The start...

Hi and welcome to our blog where we will attempt to document the progress on the construction of our house out in the Oklahoma boonies. After what seemed to be a never ending period of starts & fits we've finally pulled it off and are now slinging DIRT! The first set of pics is where the bulldozer made short work of the trees (yes, these are the same trees that made short work of Joe & I) and built the pad where the house will sit. Look at all those beautiful trees lying in a heap! It's a shame we couldn't keep each and every one of them! Anyone need any firewood? FREE! In the first set of posted pic's you will see varing views of the stemwall coming out of the ground. The walls of the structure will rest upon the top of the stemwall, and there is a concrete ledge at the base of the wall (not visible, but trust me, it's there...) that will provide the structural support for the many courses of brick & morter to come.
